Our partnership with St Columba CCAP Church and Tikhale Orphanage in Blantyre, Malawi started in 2012. The parish of St Aidan with All Saints Speke helps Tikhale Orphanage to set up fund generating activities that will enable the orphanage to become self-sustaining. This is done through the partnership with St Columba CCAP Church (right).
Some of the ways we have been able to help include:
- funding secondary students' school fees
- football uniforms & footballs to reformatory school
- sponsoring treadle pump, pig farming
- school uniforms
- dairy cow
Tikhale Orphanage is a community based organisation for children who have lost both parents (in most cases to HIV/Aids). The children attend a school and help with the care and feeding of the animals, cows and pigs, and planting crops. There are currently 78 orphans ranging from nursery age to secondary school age.
The Ofeni family visited Malawi taking letters from our parish which were presented at St Columba on Palm Sunday 2017. They also accompanied local church leaders to the orphanage to hand out clothing and other items from the UK.
St Aidan with All Saints will continue to support the orphanage by helping with future projects. Our current focus is on clean water and new accommodation.
